Photo-Art by Dave Pilgrim
I am a Liverpool-based photo-artist.
I describe myself as a photo-artist because photographer is such a vague term and encompasses so many different types of work.
For example, the term 'photographer' might refer to a wedding or portrait photographer, a corporate photographer shooting products or properties, a legal photographer or even paparazzi!
While all these different paths might be persued in a very technical, prosaic or utilitarian manner, I believe that most types of photography have room for, and indeed benefit from, an artistic perspective.
Although there is clearly nothing wrong with using photos to document an event, object, person, place or situation, my passion lies in producing images which stand out either because they are stunning, captivating, beautiful, intriguing, or just unusual in some unexpected way.

I am particularly fond of natural images of animals, plants, wood, water, sky and stone and of old wood and stone buildings and structures, but equally get excited by the visually stunning aspects of much modern architecture with its repetitive lines, graceful curves and bold emphasis of colour and perspective.
Of course, art itself has many aspects, and I will often take fairly 'straight' shots, especially if I feel the subject is beautiful in and of itself, like this butterfly, or the church window below...
While not a professional in the sense that I don't make a living from my art, all the images on this site are for sale and I am always willing to consider possible commissions, especially if given creative license!
